Project Overview

A cast iron housing component with heavy rust, oxidation, and surface contamination was submitted to General Engineering Company for surface restoration and preparation before final coating.

The objective was to:

  • Remove rust and corrosion

  • Achieve uniform surface finish

  • Improve coating adhesion

  • Restore component appearance

Before Shot Blasting (As Seen in Left Image)

The component surface had:

  • Heavy rust layer

  • Dark oxidation patches

  • Rough uneven surface texture

  • Contamination and scale deposits

  • Poor visual finish

The corrosion was affecting both the appearance and durability of the component.

 Shot Blasting Process Used

At General Engineering Company, we performed the following steps:

1. Inspection & Preparation

Component was inspected and loose contaminants were removed.

2. Abrasive Selection

High-quality steel shot media was selected for deep cleaning of cast iron surface.

3. Controlled Blasting Operation

Using centrifugal wheel shot blasting technology:

  • Rust layer removed completely

  • Surface cleaned uniformly

  • Surface profile created for coating

4.  Final Inspection

Surface was checked for uniformity and cleanliness.
